Poder360 says it follows the standards and techniques of professional journalism: it curates the facts, investigates what is necessary, organizes the news, provides access to documents in full and publishes what is essential for the public interest and vital for the improvement of institutions, democracy and freedom of expression in Brazil.

Ownership & Funding

Poder360 is owned by Brazilian journalist Fernando Rodrigues. in April 2021, it announced that businessman Frederico Trajano bought a 25 percent stake of  the news site.

Diverse Voices

Poder360 pledges to actively seek diversity of voices among its team members with the aim of reflecting different points of view existing in society.

Unnamed Sources

Poder360 journalists are advised to avoid the so-called “off”, a general term in Brazilian journalism for reportages in which the source gives information without wanting to be identified.

It has policies to check the veracity of information obtained in a confidential manner.

Poder360 says it never uses the expression “according to sources” or other related expressions. 

 

The Trust Project

The Trust Project is an international consortium of news organizations building standards of transparency and working with technology platforms to affirm and amplify journalism’s commitment to transparency, accuracy, inclusion and fairness so that the public can make informed news choices. It was founded and is led by award-winning journalist Sally Lehrman.

Craig Newmark, founder of craigslist, was our original funder, through the Trustworthy Journalism Initiative of Craig Newmark Philanthropies. Google followed with their financial support. Our funders also have included Democracy Fund, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and Facebook. Funders. Trust Project policies and the Trust Indicators are shaped and enforced independently from our funding sources.
