The Nottingham Post was founded in 1878 by businessman Thomas Forman. The paper was called the Evening Post before being rebranded as the Nottingham Post, according to The Thoroton Society of Nottinghamshire, a historical and archaeological society. The Nottingham Post had a long history in print media before launching a digital edition. The newsroom aims to tell stories that campaign on behalf of the interests of readers. One of its more well known campaigns is known as The Old and the Cold. The project, published in 1985, highlights the perils of hypothermia and fuel poverty. To help those in need, the newspaper established the Fuel Fund Appeal charity to provide assistance for heating bills. The Post says it is politically independent and supports no political party during elections.
